Gilford----Mrs. Barbara F. Swain, 78, of 72 Annis Drive, died at the Belknap County Nursing Home, on Monday, February 10, 2003. Mrs. Swain was the widow of Clayton O. Swain who died in 1997.
Mrs. Swain was born August 6, 1924 in Lakeport, NH, the daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Murgatroy) Sanborn and lived in the Lakes Region most of her life. Mrs. Swain worked for the Laconia Shoe Co. for over 15 years and for Lakes Region Linen for 10 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of A.A.R.P.
Survivors include a son, James C. Swain of Gilford, NH; three daughters. Joyce McCain, of Campton, NH, Lois Kirk, of Southwick, MA and Delores Canning of Gilford, NH; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Sanborn of Alexandria, NH and Richard Sanborn of Gilford, NH; and many nephews and nieces.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Bayside Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belknap County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 30 County Drive, Laconia, NH 03246.
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, is in charge of the arrangements.
